創立は安土桃山時代後期（慶長元（1596）年）、開山は耕雲寺14世剛安寿金禅師（ごうあんじゅきんぜんじ）の曹洞宗の寺院です。
記録に残る山号は村上山から、その後は慈海山、更には體真山（たいしんざん）と変わり、現在に至ってます。
現建物は、江戸時代後期（文化2（1805）年）に建て替えられたもので、参道入口には、町を禍から守る役目の9体の石仏「九品仏（くほんぶつ）」の一つが鎮座しています。
お寺の裏手にある中庭は、山を借景に作られた庭園です。

Manpuku-ji Temple was founded in 1596 and built by Goan Jukin, Koun-ji Temple’s 14th Soto Sect Zen master.
According to the records, the honorific mountain name associated with the temple changed from Mt. Murakami to Mt. Jikai, and then to the currently used Mt. Taishin designation.
The current building was rebuilt in 1805. One of the nine Kuhonbutsu statues, which protect the town from evil, is enshrined at the entrance of the temple approach.
The courtyard behind the temple was built while taking into consideration the adjacent mountain as a backdrop.
