原田巻家の離れ座敷として、3年半を費やして大正7年に竣工されました。木曽ヒノキを主材とした寺院様式を取り入れた書院造りです。節ひとつない20メートルの吉野杉丸桁、樹齢800年の会津ケヤキを使った玄関と露縁、菊を透かし彫りした欄間のクスノキの1枚板などの銘木も一見の価値があります。枯山水庭園は飛石で水の流れを表し、須弥山や三尊仏に見立てた石組が配されています。

This villa took three and a half years to build, finally being completed in 1918. The house , mainly built of Japanese cypress, is designed in the Shoin-zukuri style combined with the hint of Buddhist temple architecture. The entry hall and the floor of veranda are built of 800-year-old Aizu zelkova wood.
20-meter Yoshino cedar beam and the openwork of chrysanthemum are definitely worth a visit as well. In the garden, the “ stepping stones” represent the flow of water. There are stone-settings built up to resemble the mythical Buddhist holy mountain and a trinity of Buddhas.
